The FOI Foundation of Texas will hold its annual state conference Thursday, Sept. 8, at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Lisa Falkenberg of the Houston Chronicle, a champion of open government, is the keynote luncheon speaker.
Among other speakers on panels throughout the day are Texas reporters who use open records laws to hold government accountable; FOI attorneys who will examine recent Texas court rulings affecting public access to information; and public officials and advocates who will look at the future of the Texas Public Information Act.
The conference luncheon includes presentation of the James Madison Award to an open government and First Amendment advocate and the State Bar of Texas Gavel Awards to outstanding journalists.
Check out the conference agenda and join us. Single ticket registration is $110 until Aug. 27, then $125 afterward. Sponsorships that include registration for multiple attendees are available.
